Kobarney
Kobarney, Lord of Hyzevel
Shield: Party per saltire azure and gold, a rose proper
Motto: In love and loyalty we prosper.
Registry: Holy Oak, 399
Holdings: Hyzevel (Lord Selin Kobarney), Metald (Bailiff Sir Ilvos Kobarney)
Liege: Clan Ubael (Uldien)
Vassals: Dolastar (Elmeze)
Greatclans related to: Ubael (brother-in-law) Notes: With two manors and one village under their rule, clan Kobarney are among the great landholders in Fethael Hundred. They are also among the oldest nobility in the area, since they are able to trace their line back to the reign of King Uthred.
The Kobarneys have been vassals of the Ubaels since they were granted the Barony of Uldien, and the clan has prospered under their lieges. Over the last two decades the relationship has strengthened even more with the marriage of lord Selin, 56, to the Baron's sister Inda, 37, in 707 TR. The marriage has been blessed with three strong children and the Kobarneys and Ubaels often visit each other.
Lord Selin is a big-hearted and big-bellied knight who is known throughout the barony for his rumbling bass voice. He is deeply rooted to his home and often wanders the fields and meadows of Hyzevel on foot, chatting with his subjects and giving them good advice on how to treat the land. In his younger days, Selin was much feared in the tourney lists, but since he has gone to seed, his glory days only live on in fireside tales and half-forgotten songs. Lord Selin loves to reminisce about days gone by with his liege and brother-in law Baron Karsin when he visits Uldien.
His younger brother Ilvos, 49, is the bailiff of nearby Metald manor. A recent widower, he is even more portly and grandfatherly than lord Selin. He is still in mourning, but his indomitable spirit and wry humour are slowly coming back. Lately, Ilvos has neglected his duties a little, often traveling away from home to escape his empty hall – since his wife passed away and their three daughters married young knights from the nearby hundreds there is not much to hold him in Metald.
As often as possible, he visits his daughters or the Baron's court in Uldien. Ilvos is very fond of the Baron's daughter Serli whom he loves almost as much as his own children.
