The White Island

One of the most remote settlements in Mo'olelo is the White Island. The White Island is one of the eight main islands in Mo'olelo, but it's the only one that is privately owned. Owned by the Robino Family, very few people are allowed to travel to the White Island, as any visitors must have an invite from the Robino Family. Besides the family, about 170 other people live on the island.   Compared to much of the rest of Mo'olelo, those who live on the White Island have a very rural lifestyle that's very environmentally friendly. There's no plumbing on the island. Instead, the White Island uses a rainwater catchment system for all of their water. Most of the residents are farmers and anglers, although some do travel and work on The Purple Island, the closest island of the eight islands. The residents also speak a special dialect of Oleloan, the native language of Mo'olelo. Although Oleloan is not uncommon throughout Mo'olelo, the primary language of Mo'olelo is Common.

Industry & Trade

One of the things The White Island is known for is its shells, shell leis and shell jewelry. All of the islands of Mo'olelo have an island color and flower. The White Island's flower is, in fact, the shell. The shells are tiny, from one to three centimeters in length, and they show up on the shores of the White Island during the winter months. The jewelry and leis are prized throughout Mo'olelo and beyond. A genuine shell lei can be worth thousands of gold pieces, and those with a magical essence can easily be worth a few platinum. Many try to counterfeit the shell crafts, but because the White Island is so rural isolated, the knowledge and materials needed to make them very rarely leave the White Island unless it's a completed lei or jewelry.
