Genesis

The story begins with The Team thwarting a bank robbery being carried out by La Espada and (unbeknownst to them at the time) Brass Brilliant. Following information that the robbery was an attempt to steal the contents of a particular safety deposit box, they track the box's ownership to Fred Finger, a superhero focused journalist. While questioning him they are attacked by robots possessing super powers and apparently powered by a mysterious Green Fluid. In the chaos Fred imparts to them The Spectacles Of Tomorrow.
Following the battle Actaeon tried to look through the spectacles and was assailed by psychic visions of a building downtown reduced to rubble (later determined to be the headquarters of Acriave Industries. At the request of Brass Brilliant, the group met him and his partner, Maelstrom in a warehouse at the docks. The duo assured the group that they were in fact working to save the world and needed the spectacles to do so. The meeting was interrupted by a much larger super-powered robot, and as a result descended into a brawl that both villains escaped from and nearly destroyed the building. The team contacted Agent Ron Turner at A.E.G.I.S. and left him to deal with the aftermath.
While preparing to follow their leads to Acriave, the team was contacted by an unknown individual who had taken Fred Finger hostage. He demanded they bring the spectacles with them on a public tour of Acriave and leave them in a dead-drop location within the building, after which Fred would be released. The team went to the appointed tour and sneaked further into the building. There they found a large cylindrical container of the green fluid, with Agent Turner and Dr. Felix Barton discussing the progress of a mysterious program. This conversation was put to a quick end when Barton tasered Turner and began to prepare a large mechanical suit to utilize the fluid. The team engaged Barton and his robotic minions in combat, eventually containing Barton and disabling all but two of his robots, which escaped.
In the fallout Barton was taken into custody by A.E.G.I.S. and brought to an undisclosed location. Agent Turner and the team that Acriave was a legitimate government contractor, and he was not at liberty to discuss the work they were doing at this time. Actaeon kept the spectacles as a trophy back at the team's base.
