Prior to the Unraveling, it could be argued that Humans where the dominant life form on Asteruul. They controlled the whole continent and their influence was felt around the world.
When the Orcs first appeared many discarded their potential threat, treating them like lite more then a nuisance. When their invasion began Humans found themselves on the losing side for the first time in centuries. It is impossible to predict how the war would have ended if the Unraveling never happened, but what is know is that Humans where one of the races that recovered the fastest. Forced into a world without magic and where hostile forces more powerful then could arguably be fought, ruled the land, Humans dug down and survived only because a fierce survival instinct.
Currently many kingdoms and nations around Asteruul are ruled by humans, or was founded by them. Humbled by their loss of glory they seek to forge the world into a better place together with the other races, many of which weren't around during the glory days of Asteruul.
