The Queen's Tears

Long ago, when Corthalia was still a young nation, the first queen, Talia, wept for her people. Cursed by the god of her father, Endrugal, they must ask for a longer life, and give a valid reason to do so. They ache with each passing century, their bodies no longer supporting the magic of their souls. They are immortal, but at great cost.

The waterfall in Thalica forest which flows from the northern mountains came to be called "The Queen's Tears, after Talia's great mourning. After it opened as a tourist destination, many people who came and went plucked rocks and sticks from the surrounding area. Some even went so far as to dig up some of the soil in the area and put it in a jar. Now, the site is protected by Corthalian law and international organizations which protect natural wonders and hertiage sites such as this.

Purpose / Function

This natural wonder serves as the northernmost point of Corthalia, even the Corthalian Empire. It also serves as a bitter-sweet reminder of Corthalia's early days. Now it's a tourist trap for The New Republic of Corthalia and the small country of Yorunsk to the north. People from all over the world come to see the Tears.

Alterations

Terraces and pathways have been built around the waterfall so that people can safely view it. Trail cams have been installed at these locations to record vandalism after many of the waterfall's surrounding features have been picked away by tourists.

Architecture

The pathways around the Tears are earthen paths with wooden planks to serve as steps. Some picnic areas and concrete pathways with security fencing has been installed on the Yorunski side.

History

Corthalia was founded in order to preserve the natural landscape of the ruling race's birthplace. The waterfall is a proteced landmark, heavily monitored by the New Republic of Corthalia after many centuries of tourists picking at the surrounding rocks and causing more errosion.
