Thalica

The beautiful capitol city of Corthalia, Thalica surrounds a grove of trees said to be the birthplace of the ruling species.

Demographics

Most Thalicans are Thalim. Previously, Thalim dod not grant living space to anyone who is not Endrugalim or human. Now, over half of the population is made of other races, sch as Grellen, Kavunthim, Drosh and even some half-Shindar.

Government

Thalica city is currently ruled by a state parliment which also rules the surrounding area. However,it is also home to the country's leaders.

Defences

Thalica is girded with thickets and plants which irritate the skin such as poison ivy. The oili is rubbed over the logs and boulders used to build the city wall. Trees provide an excellent vantage point ofr archers and other dfenders.

Industry & Trade

Thalica guards the passageway between Northern and Southern Doorne. Migrans from Kavunthian nations to the north must pay a fee to pass through the city. The river provides a good way to transport gods that can withstant water. The river also provides pan-sieving popportunities for mining metal and gems that rlow from the mountain pass. Thalicans also sell magic items to foreigners and many nations have treaties with Corthalia to trade offensive magic items.

Infrastructure

Thalica uses the remains of fallen trees and shale from landslides to build roads and bridges. None of them are cut into mountains or raised over dry valleys. The central plaza is a huge roundabout containing the well-guarded grove that is a cultural heritage site and the center of the city. This is where the Song of Ages takes place. There is one water wheel which generates power for the town. Solar pannels dot the tops of trees both living and dead.

Assets

The police force of Thalica are supplied with leather armor, primative weapons, and magic items. No gunpowder or incendiaries may be used or distributed in this city. Metals can be readily extracted from silt along the river. Gems such as quartz can be extracted as well. A reswvoir of dried meats, grains and kindling are stored in warehouses in the center of the city, but not near the Sacred Grove. Thalim provide high-quality potions and magic technology that is far advanced compared to other nations and species.

Guilds and Factions

The Priesthood of Ruhim heavily influences public opinions and even political debates. Though their influence has diminished after the rise of the Republic, they still have heavy influence in the voting population. The Parlment of Thalica is the legislative body for the twon and the surrounding aea. They guide the laws and polie force of the city. The TPD (Thalica Police Department) is the more on-the-ground executive body for the city. The Bardic Colllege of Chants melds standard bardic education with religious propaganda. Doruics believe that singing and dancing are ways to worship and not for profit. The Ihgen crime family heavily influences the economic and military security of Thalica. They have assasons at theirfingertips. They smuggle in illlegal potion ingredients and narcotics. The Thalican Commission for the Disabled is a volunteer0run organization whih provides and advocates for benefits to mentally and physically disabled people and children. They also raise awareness or rare conditions and are wrking to alleviate stigma against disabled people.

History

Thalica was founded at the same time as Corthalia was. The rulers of the nation also ruled the town. Their religious beliefs heavily influenced archatecture and industries until the Republic separated chruch from state.

Architecture

Thalican architecture focuses on natural beauty. They carve dead trees into high-rise apartment buildings and build homes out of natural materials that are safely harvested from their surroundings. A few homes grow rooftop gardens, turning the tops of the paper-and-wood structures into beautiful sloped gardens with shaggy edges and vines.

Geography

A river flows through Thalica city. It is called "Endrugal's Tears" because of Endrugal's connection to mortals here. It sits in the center of a vast redwood forest which steadily climbsup the gapp of two mountains that join togethr at a point where a waterfall feeds the forest below.

Natural Resources

Boars, foxes, beevers and many herbs and fruitslive in the forest. An invasive species of insects killed off some of the edible fruits and laarger shrub varieties. The river provides water, fish, and energy.
