Corbish

A combination of the "oily-smooth" language of Corthalia and the "compacted" languages of the Sabbish city-states, Corbish is now widely known as the comon language of Corthalia. The original language known as Corthalian is largely dead, except among those who lived during the times it was widely used.

The Corthalians brought with them their monotheistic ideals and relationship ideals. The Sabbish brough knowledge of agriculture and architecture to the common language. This is not merely the product of the two languages but is the mingling of two languages into one culturally adaptive language.

Geographical Distribution

"Imperial common" as it is also called, exists wherever Corthalians have established colonies. There are colonies in eastern Audrita, northeastern Serodechia, and throughout Doorne. A few island countries near Naeghat also have this language.

Phonology

Like High Corthalian, Corbish is comprised of clearly defined syllables. However, the Sabbish languages brought to Corbish a certain brevity that Corthalian lacked. Consonants harden with emphasis or frustration. Vowels shift in tone depending on social contexts. Lower-class citizens use diphthongs more often, abbreviating the excessively defined Corthalian syllables to suit their own needs. Upper-class citizens enunciate and define syllables, even from the Sabbish language. They also tend to separate nouns and adjectives from other words unlike in the written language.

Syntax

Corbish follows Sabbish sentence structure.

Vocabulary

Corbish is a peculiar mix of Corthalian and Sabbish which means that multiple words can express one meaning such as the words "allow" and "permit" in the English language.
