Rhopadope Mountains

A mountain west of Shoreskeep dominates the flat plain. It is said to be perhaps the tallest mountain globally and is known to be several miles high at least. No person has ever successfully climbed to the top (or at least climb to the summit and back), and the slopes are littered with the bones of those who have attempted it. Smoke is constantly rising from the summit, alluding that it is an active volcano. The magic that once held this place has been twisted to make it the most impervious prison in mortal history, holding most of the globe's population, with Stoana as the warden.

Geography

Became the epicenter for destruction; new landmasses arose, and the Rhopadope Mountains formed during this time. It is believed they even continue underneath the waves. The mountains appear to be black, jagged, and lifeless, likely a result of the darkness that surrounds and corrupts them. They tumble into the sea in a confusing morass of islands and cliffs. 
There are numerous narrow passes through the Rhopadope Mountains, used by Shadowspawn to menace the surrounding lands. While few of these passes are directly guarded, the largest and most significant such pass is Fleeting Gap, Given that the Mortal Wars also ravaged the Nethervista, one can assume there are passes through the mountains there.
