Inbetween

The Inbetween is a minor dimension found within the cracks of other dimensions. Most humans refer to it as the Abyss or the Void. Unlike most other dimensions, the Inbetween is not ruled by any particular God, but the Gods can visit it if they wish. Timekeepers such as Minute can also enter the Inbetween.   The only inhabitants of the Inbetween are the Cnidarians.

Geography

The Inbetween is a vast and small space of endless darkness. The only light comes from outside sources or portals. There are no discernible geographic features here. If anything, the 'air' feels heavy and water-like, but is completely breathable no matter what species is there. The Cnidarians make no sounds, but sometimes their portals will bring in noises of other dimensions. These noises will cascade until the ringing is no longer audible. If someone speaks in the Inbetween, their voice will similarly fill the dimension until it settles down.

Localized Phenomena

Time and definite space do not exist in the Inbetween. Cnidarians grow and move, but this is based on their inherent property of growth; from the second they are created, they inherently have the potential for larger forms within them. These forms simultaneously do and don't exist yet. No other organisms can grow in the Inbetween, and nothing (including Cnidarians) can truly age or die.   As for no definite space, the Inbetween is endless and also layered upon itself infinitely. That being said, it is considered a minor dimension because, unless you are a Cnidarian, the Inbetween feels like a 'short, looping hallway'. There is no forward, backwards, up, or down, but there is also nothing to reach except for the Cnidarians or the occasional portals the Cnidarians make. These appear on different layers but are also taking up the space you or a Cnidarian is taking up. Simply reaching for the portal (no matter how 'distant' it may seem) with an arm or a slight tilt of the head acknowledging it will pull you through if you are not careful.   To the Gods and Timekeepers, the Cnidarians appear to teleport, but they are simply taking advantage of the facts that time and space essentially don't function in the Inbetween. Cnidarians move themselves between the infinite layers, but ultimately can't get away if someone wants to capture them.   Will is an immensely powerful force in the Inbetween. By wanting to capture a Cnidarian or inspect a portal, the dimension will fold so the action can be completed. Be cautious, however. The Inbetween does not consider second guesses but will act upon the subconscious. Even if a small part of you is curious, the Inbetween will fold to your curiosity's demand. Thankfully, there's not too much to do here--even Gods cannot form new matter or force things into the Inbetween. It is simply a place of darkness, folding, and the silent Cnidarians.   Unassisted humans who somehow end up in the Inbetween lose all their memories and float silently with the Cnidarians. Many end up sleeping (but cannot die) due to the darkness and the floating sensation. If they are pulled out of the Inbetween, they will regain their memory but may find themselves dreaming of an empty dimension, feel that their body is suddenly 'too heavy' to bear (no weight or density changes), or have temporarily numbed emotions and senses.   CYCLES theorizes that the Inbetween is a dead God, perhaps a former incarnation of the God of Death. However, it doesn't know for sure and no attempts to communicate with the Inbetween have been successful. The main reason for this theory is that some humans believe death is eternal darkness, as well as the water-like qualities tying the dimension to CYCLES' deep-sea Underworld known as the Hadalpelagic.
