The Humans

History

King Maelon was the first human to create a settlement alongside the Laughton Channel, founding Maelis. He started a prosperous human community and lived at peace with the Balin and Vulmari elves.
A few generations later, and King Gabrien is rumoured to have been driven mad by dark magick, causing him to being a war with the fae folk of the world. He was murdered under unknown circumstances, but it lead his son, King Garund, to outlaw the use of magick within the city walls of Maelis. He also ordered the immediate execution of known magick users within the city. The catacombs, filled with hundreds of sacred mages and wizards were all but burnt before being turned into a prison.

Currently

King Beiric Reybon, the great-grandson of Gabrien now rules. He seeks peace with the elves and fae folk but his husband, the Consort Hunfray, doesn't agree. Beiric suffers form an illness that no physician can heal and Hunfray suspects the fae folk are behind it. As the King remains within the safety of the palace walls, Hunfray works to destroy all fae folk and any trace of magick left in the world.
The Vulmari are not yet at war with the human kingdom, but tensions are growing as more military posts are set up around the Vulmar forest.
