Giampierro's House

Giampierro's house, which is also his workshop and "laboratorium", is located in the spectacle maker's street, though near the end, where start the trade ports, and the fish smell. One could argue that such strategic location is highly vauled, but the fact is that most inhabitants are disgusted with the potent aroma, and thus Giampierro got the plot relatively cheap, though his abode is commonly referred to the "fish market". The house itself is two storey wattle and dorb building supported by timber frames, and whitewashed to prevent erosion. This method is considered to be way outdated, and many of Giampierro's peers laugh upon his desperate attempt to save on materials, which turned out to be a bad choice, as not just the upkeep of his obsolate house is much higher than he anticipated, but the run-down appearance also keeps away a lot of customers, as most think this is just the home of some poor sap, and not a spectacle making workshop, even though Giampierro put a crest of a spectacle over the door. The ground floor houses the workshop, and the hall for the customers, while the upper floor is for residence, with Giampierro's room facing the street, and an unused guest room facing the alley behind the houses. Back in the early days, tese kind of alleys were there, so the home's waste could be kept away from the streets, but now with the advent of sewers and such, it's quite clear, and the playground for insolent children. There are no windows on the ground floor, and only a few in the upper one, so the light is usually dim, the air is stale, and the old spectacle maker uses quite a lot of oil for his lamp, when he works late in the night.
