Downtime Activities
This document will contain any additional information beyond the CRB for downtime activities in Absalom city.
Living Expenses and Earning Income
Players will choose what level of comfort their character enjoys and spend the necessary money per week on it. They will also choose a task for each week. Normally this will be a day job of some sort to pay for expenses. There will be alternative tasks that allow the player to develop a local resource; like investing their time to improve the quality of a job. This will permanently increase the difficulty of that task but also increase the income gained from a success. For more details on the characters day jobs, see Expanded Earn Income.Reputation
This part is still a work in progress. It will allow the group to form long term relationships with major organisations operating in the city. There will be a minor individual element as well as the larger group aspect, allowing favours to be exchanged if reputation is in the positive, or groups causing problems for the PC's if in the negative. There will be simple downtime activities for small changes and full quests for major changes. For more details see Reputation.Change of Rarity from CRB
For the purposes of purchasing and crafting rules below, there will be a modification to the rarity from the Core Rule Book. Any item costing more than 700gp will be treated as Uncommon and anything above 2000gp will be treated as rare. The formula for those items are similarly changed. So formula for an item costing above 700gp is uncommon, and formula for items above 2000gp are rare. All alchemical formula are rare, as are spellbooks and the service of paying a caster to learn their spells. This modification to rarity only applies to the rules in this document, it doesn't apply to any any other rules in official books.Shopping
All Common items are easily located in The Coins district. Anything Uncommon requires the player to have located a seller of said items. A single specific item may only require a small diversion in a session with a skill roll (like buying a Katar). Finding a seller of a larger category of items will require more effort, depending on how broad the category is (Uncommon Slashing weapons compared to Uncommon weapons in general). Anything Rare can only be located individually and will require a specific session side quest to acquire. In all cases, inform the GM before a session if you think you'll require a side quest to get an item. Any sellers located will become NPC's that can be used at a later time for similar purposes and by different PC's (assuming the character in question is willing to share this contact).Crafting
All Common and Uncommon recipes are available for purchase in The Coins district. Rare recipes may be located with a side quest similar to locating Uncommon Items.Retraining
Retraining will follow the CRB's rules. In general, changing a class feat requires 1-2 weeks of downtime training. At higher levels this will be a longer amount of time and/or require funds in addition. An exception to the CRB rules is to allow a player to retrain their Background Lore skill. You're not allowed to change your Ancestory, Background, or Class, but because of this it's impossible to make a change to your initial Lore skill (your background determines it, so you don't get a choice). This retraining is a very condensed sort of apprenticeship. It will take a total of 3 months, but doesn't have to be done consecutively, and the character cannot Earn Income while retraining (but they can use Survival or Society to subsist). In addition, a character can pay for schooling to accelerate the retraining process, lowering it down to a one month minimum. Cost will be dependant on character level at the time of retraining.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
