Sarabak Savanna

Dragonbreach to the west. The lost lands of humankind's birthplace to the south. The Guldahral to the north. The Choral Sea to the east.   The land between these places is a beautiful one, yes, a beautiful land indeed; one that bore the assault of an ancient white dragon and survived. One whose people still hold fast to their old traditions, yet accept strangers like one of their own into their midst.   The Sarabak has weathered the worst the world has to offer, and it remains. And so it shall remain, beaten but not broken, a home to all travelers and a warm nest of faith and community.

Geography

Sandwiched between the rugged Guldahral desert to the north and the Rainweald jungle to the south, the Sarabak seems to be a union of two extremes. Fluctuating between seasons of drought and heavy rainfall, it consists primarily of sprawling grassland, interrupted by occasional dusty hills and groves of acacia trees. A number of rivers descend into the savanna from the foothills of the Grimcairn mountains, nourishing the environment even in times of otherwise oppressive heat.   The northeastern regions are considerably more temperate, blending into the Wildenmoor wetlands. Despite this, the majority of civilization dwells at the heart of the savanna, within rolling arid hills and plots of farmland.

Fauna & Flora

Many animal species call the Sarabak savanna home. Herds of wildebeest and elephants roam the landscape, hunted by the likes of ankhegs, lions, and lesser wyverns. Acacia trees, flowering shrubs, and a great variety of colorful insects and small reptiles decorate the arid grasslands.

Natural Resources

Breadbasket of the Federation, the Sarabak Savanna grows a variety of grains and and vegetables, such as sorghum, cassava, squash, melons, peppers, and sweet potatoes in the more arid southern territories. The further north one goes, one finds farms responsible for the production of soybeans, millet, and maize. Food staples such as these are the Sarabak's primary exports, providing them with significant trade and a flourishing economy.
