Black Ridge Brawlers

Of all the holy orders of the gods, the Black Ridge Brawlers are perhaps the most unconventional, and many people do not initially realize their deep connection to the Forgekeeper, their patron goddess. The Black Ridge Brawlers are an offshoot of a guerrilla fighting group active during the goliath/dwarf war, and while their principle task has changed, they still operate in much the same way as their forebears, having little public presence except during festivals or times of strife.

Structure

The Brawlers are made up of fighters, barbarians, rangers, and warrior monks. They are split between an unspecified number of platoons, which patrol the wilderness of the Hinterlands and Steppes. Each platoon has its own Brawl Captain, and the platoons at large are led by the Brawl Commander. Brawlers are famous for taming and riding northern animals, such as bears, owlbears, and griffons. Their ranks also attract a number of acolytes of the Wildmother, who also have a vested interest in protecting the wilds of the north.

Public Agenda

While they do not spread the dogma or worship of the Forgekeeper, the Black Ridge Brawlers are responsible for protecting the lands of the north, so that artisan guilds in the cities may focus solely on honing their craft, which is the true act of devotion to the Forgekeeper. The Brawlers themselves do not directly represent the Forgekeeper, as the Forgekeeper has no specific holy order charged with continuing her worship or maintaining her temples.
