Marton's Dreams

Below is a record of the dreams Marton Peregrinus has received since the day the Knight turned up at his desert temple:

Before the Campaign

18 years ago Marton Peregrinus woke up half-dead in the desert. He was discovered by a group of Clerics of The Lady. They nursed him back to health and took him on as one of their own. However, he never truly fitted in, never felt close to Ophiel - The Lady, but was entrusted to be the guardian/champion of the commune.      Marton spent 17 years in this male-only commune, never looking a day older. Every night he has the same dream and woke up with the same image in his mind, an hourglass. Occasionally, he protected the temple from monsters that walk out of the desert.       One day a knight arrived at the temple, he was well trained and wanted to help the temple. He fell through a tear in the vail. That night Marton Peregrinus's dream changed.       He woke up the next morning and had an image of a sunrise in his mind. He knew it was time for him to leave. It took him a year of walking and sailing east but eventually, he reached the end of the world. At the end of the world, he discovered The Knights of the New Dawn.

Dream #0: (before the knight arrived)

  Same dream every night:
Marton follows a woman in a golden dress through the desert, they walk for hours until Marton is too tired to walk anymore, then he wakes up.

Dream #1: (the night the knight arrived)

He is in the desert, the lady is not there, but he knows he must walk on. Eventually, the occasional smoking piece of volcanic rock appears in the sand, these become more frequent until he is walking on stone as black as night. He can hear the roar of the sea. After an hour or two, he reaches the shore.
At the very edge of the land, a man in black robes sits at a table set for two. You join him. Facedown on the table is a mirror. The man, who's eyes are the night sky, beacons for you to turn it over. In the glass you see the following images:
A boat gliding through a mist-covered sea. Hidden amongst the mist are giant, crumbling statues of heavenly figures.
You see a new dawn breaking beautifully over in the east, a lady stands in a tower on the very end of the world watching this new dawn.
You see a gnome running through a dark forest with a screaming baby.

You see five asomar, with swords drawn, stood at the gates of hell.

You are sat on a dark horse, next to you a human rides a chestnut horse, she hands you a map.

You hand the robed man a handful of art and he removes your shackles.

You hold a newborn baby in your hands. He is laughing and reaching up to you.

You are a foot soldier in an army. The army stretches out infinitely before and after you. A silver dragon flies overhead.
You hold in your hand a crown made of golden branches and antlers, the metal is burning your flesh.

An asomar with sand and ash pouring out of its eyes and mouth.

When you look up you are alone. The table is covered in sand. There is not a boat waiting for you on the surf. You step into it.

Dream #2: (whilst travelling)

You dream of the place where you will next make camp.

Dream #3: (you're first night at Camp Hope)

You dream that the man in black robes is waiting for you at the edge of the desert again, this time the table is set for 7. He takes one of the seats. He shuffles a set of Elvan tarot cards and then draws four for you: The Sun, The Knight, The Hierophant, and Death.      You wake with the image of an hourglass in your mind. You have the same dream the next night. That morning a messenger arrives, summoning you to meet the head of The Knights of the New Dawn .

During the Campaign:

Dream #4: (Fort Hadriel Dungeon - session 3)

You are in a barron field, you feel a weight in your pocket, you pull out a handful of copper acrons. As you turn them over in your hands you see the faces of the slaves you freed in the Hell Knights camp. You begin to plant them.

You see the gnome again, he is being chased through a dark forest. He holds a baby to his chest. He falls through a hole and lands in an underdark cave. His leg is broken and the baby is crying.

The barron field is now an orchard with six trees, the acorns have turned into copper coin trees. You collect your harvest.

You see an asomar crying copper tears.

You see yourself walking through a great library, Elaurwyn Rautha  is next to you, you are helping him carry his books.

You see yourself walking towards the man in black robes with your copper harvest. He weighs out the pieces and shakes his head. It is not enough to pay off your debt.

You are carrying a brick through the endless desert.

Dream #5 - (by the underground lake - session 4)

You see five asomar, with swords drawn, standing at the gates of hell.

You stare at a large tower in the middle of the desert.

You see Ophiel - The Lady, she is bleeding and in pain. You watch her stagger through the desert.

You are carrying a brick through the endless desert.

Dream #6 - (you finally sleep after killing the necromancer)

You are carrying a brick through the endless dessert, you walk until you find a flat rock. Ophiel - The Lady is there waiting for you. She watches you put the brick down on the flat floor. She nods, she is pleased with you.
