The Crystal Hymn

The Crystal Hymn, named for its striking, yet haunting beauty which is said to be much like a song of praise in the tangible form of gems inlaid in precious metal, was the former symbol of leadership and service among the Five Servant Houses of the Glorious Empire long before the Bad Ol' Days. Currently, the pieces of the Hymn are scattered across the world and the lands of Geode-Errets.   It did not take long at all for the mortal inhabitants of Geode-Errets to notice striking similarities among those remarkably inscrutable, yet intimately approachable beings known as Elyon's Children. Of all the diverse similarities, the Immortals all possess and wear a humble white stone on their attire. For some it's the focus of their garments, portrayed as a simple symbol of office. Other Immortals prefer to obscure its presence, making it take on the personal significance of a gift from a close friend. However all the Immortals have one, and they are all inscribed with markings that no one has been able to decipher, made more frustrating by the fact that each white stone is inscribed with something different without any repeats among Elyon's Children.   During the reign of the Glorious Emperor of Rennark III, wanting to honor Elyon's Children and their continuing relationship between itself and the empire's Immortal Stewards, dauphin Leplacier commissioned a set of masterly crafted pieces - consisting of a necklace, earrings, a brooch, bracelet and a diadem -initially as a gift for his fiance, but then under her suggestion as a gift from the Empire's people. While the mythril- and silver-craft itself stood out as the work of a supremely talented jewelsmith, it was the larger inlaid gems that caught one's immediate attention: several precious gems shaped and enchanted to bear all but identical resemblance to the white stones of the Immortals.   The Children of Elyon who oversaw the Empire joyfully accepted the gift, but preferred their closest human partners wear the pieces individually rather than just an individual wear all the pieces. As such, while the Crystal Hymn itself had no power, it became a symbol of status in the various realms of service in the Glorious Empire, and the various Immortals overseeing the Empire invested some amounts of their strength and vitality into the pieces of the Crystal Hymn as signs of their good pleasure.   Unfortunately, as often befalls mortals who shut their ears to wisdom or open their ears to folly, a series of bad and ill-thought through choices lead to the fall of the Glorious Empire and the subsequent scattering of the pieces of the Crystal Hymn across Geode-Errets. While thought lost to the ages with the upheaval that fell the Glorious Empire, several pieces of the set resurfaced during the Bad Ol' Days having been rediscovered and seized by the gods seeking power attempting to avoid their fates. However, by the end of that conflict, the pieces, sans the bracelet, found homes in the estates of the Sage of Darkness, the Vernal Oracle and several others, where they remain today. As of now, only the Immortals know where the bracelet is located.
