At the expense of most of her remaining lifeforce, Wynn Khajib channels the power of the gods to break away the pre-prepared shards and form a new realm known collectively as Genesis.
The defining event of the hidden world of Genesis, the Shattering was a culmination of ten years' dreaming and a year of preparation on the part of the Reaper Wynn Khajib. With a decade having passed in which to consider the losses of the War of Dark Flames, Wynn found herself more and more disillusioned by the thought that catastrophic conflict between the magical races and humanity was inevitable; she foresaw a future where war over limited space would result in the devastation of the winning races and the complete annihilation of the losers. Refusing to accept this, she formulated an impossibly bold plan to use Fate's power to forge a new world wholesale from the free-floating magic of the Otherlands. Called Genesis, this world of her creation would serve as a haven for the pristine natural world and those who'd always called it home. Preparations took an entire year, beginning on the first full moon of 1212 CE. Wynn used the inherent connections of the Worldshadow to reach out to the minds of all those with any measure of innate magic; she told the people how to prepare, how to establish magical groundwork that she'd pour power into and create copies of the land as new 'shards' of the world she would make. While mortal mages went about it in many different ways, they knew to heed the warnings of a Reaper and took it seriously. One year later, on the first full moon of 1213 CE, Wynn opened herself up fully to the power of her god and allowed Fate to pour divine energy through her into the groundwork laid by the people of Genesis. The shards were formed in a single night as many parts of a single monumental spell that also scoured all physical traces of the world that was from the land and wiped most memory of the magical races and their history from the minds of those who were left behind.
