Felai
Felai are bipedal felines, resembling Lynxes in their colouring, patterns and facial structure. They are the sole known sapient inhabitants of the planet Gelditerram, and live in towns and cities scattered across the world.

Basic Information
Anatomy
Felai are digitigrade bipeds with thick fur coats, front-facing eyes, large ears on top of their heads, tails, and paw-hands with opposable thumbs (stiffer than that of a human).
Growth Rate & Stages
Felai take eight years to reach their maximum height, twelve to mature sexually, and twenty to mature mentally.
Ecology and Habitats
Felai can adapt to many different environments but they're most at home in forests at the base of mountains, where there are lots of trees and rocks around.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Felai are omnivores, adapted to be able to eat both meat and plant fibre. They require high amounts of protein to live comfortably and can get very sick if they don't have enough.
Felai no longer need to hunt or scavenge, with the domestication of various plants and animals, but those that do need to tend to dig up the burrows of burrowing animals; if that's not an option, even the most out of shape Felai are very fast short-distance sprinters, making them good ambush predators.
Additional Information
Average Intelligence
Same as that as a human.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Felai, being cats, have particularly good night vision. Unlike most of their relative species, though, they have a larger range of colour vision (about equal to that of a human). They also have sharp hearing, able to hear footsteps in loud wind.
Civilization and Culture
Beauty Ideals
Thick, healthy fur coats are considered highly attractive in felai culture, primarily. While other things, such as strong teeth, bright eyes, and longer tails are also considered extremely beautiful, a thick, well-groomed coat is a personal goal for anyone who cares about how they look.
Courtship Ideals
A leftover from much older Felai culture is that, when a Fel wishes to court another, they bring a hunting trophy as a gift when they ask. Literal hunting trophies such as game or animal horns have fallen slightly out of favour, with the rising popularity of candied fruit and frivolous decorations as gifts, but they're still considered appropriate.
Felai courtships are rather long, with those involved exchanging words, favours, and gifts, as well as occasionally taking part in activities - traditionally, paired courtship hunts, but there are those that either would prefer not to partake in such or simply don't have the option.
Average Technological Level
They're around their industrial revolution, having recently developed steampowered locomotion and other steam-based tech.
Common Etiquette Rules
Felai consider the baring of teeth to be an aggression, so it's considered best to not do it in polite conversation, even if you're really annoyed at something.
Scientific Name
Felae Sapiens
Lifespan
Felai live fifty years, about. However, average lifespan may increase to eighty years with better medicine and living conditions.
Conservation Status
Least Concern.
Average Height
The tallest recorded Felai was six feet tall. Most are between four to five feet.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Felai usually have light brown, grey, or off-white fur with dark speckles. Redder fur is less common, but exists. Felai tend to have lighter fur around their eyes.
