Council Head

Qualifications

There are only two qualifications needed to be part of the council:
  • To be part of a noble heritage (this could be changed however).
  • To have studied politics, magic, history or any other degree that could be useful to help run a country.

Requirements

Firstly, the need to have been previously members of the council as a minor member. Then, they need to have been voted in by the common people.

Appointment

They need to be voted in by the common people and of course win the vote against the other minor council members. After the previous Head of council has retired or died, they are then given the title and given a scroll of their responsibilities they must sign in front of the other council members to prove they are willing to take on the role.

Duties

A list of some of the duties of the head of the council:
  • Passing laws
  • Keeping the military under control
  • Keeping the country financially stable
  • Keeping the country safe
  • Keeping the people happy
  • Keeping the country safe from Deidamia 

Responsibilities

A list of certain responsibilities:
  • Passing or vetoing laws
  • Keeping the peace within the council
  • Seeing which issues are needing to be addressed 
  • Trading with other countries 
  • Keeping a list of everything that has been traded and the taxes collected
  • Keeping up with the current state of the country and is any dark spirits are about

Benefits

The Head of the council is the current highest state of power ever since the monarchy was disbanded, so they get all of the benefits of respect and power that the monarch had just on a bit of a lesser scale. They have the highest political, social and militaristic power.

Accoutrements & Equipment

The head of the council gets to wear a certain old style of toga to let people know who they are. But this is mostly optional.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

The head of the council can be removed if they die (obviously), retire or if they are so unpopular they can be voted out of the council and a new one will be voted in.

History

The first war is the reason why this title exists, as the first war caused the downfall of the monarchy and that lead to the creation of the council.

Cultural Significance

The council has acted as a replacement to the previous monarchy, just acting different and with less pomp and importance than previously. This new rank has affected people's ideas of how a country should be run and people's scholarly pursuits have increased as people have gotten into sciences and political sciences too.

This title was created when people realised no decisions were being properly made and they needed someone to make the concrete decisions and keep the members from killing each other.

It's similar to the old monarchy but is a bit more accustoms so that other council members have things to do and the people have a choice who rules.

The voting of the common people and the voting of the other minor members of the council.

They can run until they die or until they retire.
