The mountains of Trond
Folks all across the lands of the Savage Frontier and the Silver Marches, but especially those in Thay referred to the Trond as 'the Wall', typically because it was simply an endless, nearly impassable range of high, jagged, perpetually ice-covered mountains.
Geography
Trond was a mountain range stretching from the westernmost part of Norska to the eastern edge of the Drakonian nation of Tymanther.
While the western-most edge of Trond was penetrated by a circuitous, always dangerous trade route to Grofheim, it was possible to traverse the mountains and find yourself in an immense valley, the Icewind Dale.
The region was first populated when Norskan longships reached the area during the last centuries of the Trixor empire. Initially settling on the islands of the coast, the northlanders would eventually settle Icewind Dale. Apart from Norskan barbarian tribes the tundra is home to frost giants, mammoths and monsters so big, they would give southlanders nightmares.
North east of Icewind Dale, the endless Moonwood (Frosen Forrest) reach all the way to the Bay of Ice in the north and the Anauroch Mountains in the west. It is said that these frosen peaks house forgotten temples, monasteries and dredded white dragons.
