The Journal of the Architect

This crumpled old journal was found in the Mausoleum of Alextraza and seem to be written by a mage in her service.   I found myself faced by names that I had heard elsewhere in the most hideous of connections: The Eldest, Dendar the Night Serpent, Borem-Carn the Unseen Laughter, Holashner the Hunger Below, Piscaethces the Blood Queen, Shothotugg the Eater of Worlds, Y'chak the Violet Flame, Bolothamogg Who Watches from Beyond the Stars, Kyuss the Worm That Walks, Tharizdun Herald of the End Times, Atropus the World Born Dead, Zurguth Thought Given Flesh and Father Dagon. My dearest friend was drawn back through nameless aeons and inconceivable dimensions to worlds of elder, outer entity to which the humble author of this journal could only guess in the vaguest way... There exist secret cults of evil men devoted to the purpose of tracking down and ingratiating themselves to these monstrous powers from other dimensions. All this he tells her, whispers to her, I find myself wishing he would whisper to me too.
  • Journal of the Architect, 13th dawn of R'lyeh - 721 Blessed.
  • The voice who speaks to my friend says he can help us understand; help us make sense of these vestiges. I find myself doubting this mysterious figure, this conveyor of secrets and forbidden lore. Why does he know what no one ought to know? In addition, why did he choose my Alextraza? A fallen saint kicked out and disgraced for her findings and methods? He speaks of a man of mystical erudition, an entity he links with Hastur and the Yellow Sign. A Man in Yellow.
  • Journal of the Architect, 39th moon of Mannslieb - 726 Blessed.
  • Today I heard him speak for the first time. Whispers of a stranger. I find myself agreeing with his words; how could I, a lowly hedge mage, ever hope to help a saint? Moreover, what of the others who follow her? I must find a way.
  • Journal of the Architect, 31th day of the Totentanz - 733 Blessed.
  • This will be my last entry in this journal. We can no longer stay here. She has told me of a place where we can lock this all away, a place where we can study these vestiges, fragments, gifts of immense power. The stranger told her I suspect. She still thinks she can make it right again, that her Queen will forgive her.
