New York City

The City of New York remains a source of immense power and wealth during the 24th century. It is divided into 5 districts or colloquially known as boroughs: The Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island.

History

The city was founded in 1624 when the Dutch permanently settled the southern tip of Manhattan Island as the colony of New Amsterdam. The colony was taken over by the British in 1664 and would remain under British rule until the American Revolution which ended in 1783. The United States possessed the wealthy city until the beginning of the 22nd century during the Imperial Revolution where the city joined the Empire.
