Petrifactive Panniculitis
A disease that turns the body to stone. Deadly and highly contagious.
Transmission & Vectors
Transmitted by touching the petrified body of an infected victim.
Causes
Caused by the Stoneskin Virus.
Symptoms
Infection with Petrifactive Panniculitis leads to the gradual petrifaction of the host's entire body. This begins rather slowly, showing itself only as a stiffness in the joints. After several days, the host's skin begins to pertrify, acting as if the host was under the effects of the Stoneskin spell. After another week, the host's body is completely petrified, resulting in their death. At this point, their "skin" is so saturated with virus that touching them has a high chance of viral transmission.
Treatment
The only known treatment for this disease is to kill the virus by exposing it to a suitably strong anti-magic field for a period of several days. This does not heal any damage done, but only prevents the further development of symptoms.
Prognosis
Unless a suitably strong anti-magic field is available, recovery from this disease is unlikely.
Prevention
Engineering controls are the only known method for preventing infection by the disease. This includes gloves, coats, goggles, and other personal protective equipment.
