Nymarna

Nymarna is the goddess of nature, wildernesses and instinct, her power and influence waxing strongest in those areas far from civilisation. She cares little for individuals, only concerning herself with maintaining the natural order, although she looks favourably upon those who demonstrate that they share in her goal.    The Lady of the Wilds is not a spiteful deity, but can at once be callous and generous. She will not intervene if a pack of wolves are circling a lonely traveller, nor will she stop a giant eagle carrying off a new-born aurochs. However, she allows hungry souls to forage for food and to trap game, providing they take only what they need, and those who act with due deference can often find themselves stumbling upon something altogether more bountiful. Nymarna accepts this as she understands that death is a debt that will be repaid by all in time, with the hunter becoming the hunted at her whim.    Nymarna is also the goddess of instinct, and it is believed that the most primal, subconscious wills of all living things are somehow connected through her. Her worshippers practice to hone their senses and teach others to trust in their intuitions, for such feelings are often subtle warnings from the goddess of nature.    Nymarna's lover is Tryllia, goddess of the sea, sky, storms and emotion.   Appearance

As with all the deities Nymarna can change her appearance at will, however she invariably manifests as female.    It is rare, though not unheard of, for her to appear directly to individual mortals, usually in the form of a waking vision. In such visions, she takes on characteristics of the local environment: in polar regions she might be swathed in snowy furs and with ice-blue skin, whilst in arid deserts her eyes burn from beneath loose and free-flowing garments that endlessly crumble to sand. Regardless of her surroundings, she is always barefoot.    More commonly, she communicates to her followers via feelings and shifts in their subconscious, and even then usually only after periods of meditation and communion with nature.    Nymarna never appears in or communicates with any mortal whilst they are in population centres of any size, and those used to her presence in the wilderness notice a certain feeling of abandonment upon stepping through a town or city gate. Whether this is because Nymarna cannot step foot in such places or simply choses not to is unknown and the subject of much debate among many religious scholars.    Worship

Unlike many other deities, Nymarna has very little in the way of an established priesthood. Shrines to her do exist, on secluded hilltops or deep in tangled forests for example, but they are so varied as to be unrecognisable to most. Druids are their most common guardians, but occasionally an officient from an isolated hamlet will tend one in the hope of invoking the goddess's protection.
