The Enticing Water Horse
Kelpies are horrid unseelie creatures that look like horses with smooth wet skin like a frog or dolphin and large fish eyes. These cunning carnivores reside along the shallows of lakes, bogs, and rivers waiting for their unsuspecting prey to wander by. Mothers tell stories of the kelpie to keep their children from playing too close to the river, but they have no idea just how real this fairy tale creature truly is and just how ferocious this sadistic monster's appetite can be.Fighting Style
Kelpies are natural psychics and insatiable predators. They spend their days waiting along the edges of bodies of water waiting for a creature to meander by. Once one gets close enough, the kelpie will then use its psychic magic to break down its will and fill its mind with nearly irresistible hallucinations that captivate its prey into wading deeper into the water using either its Hallucinate spells or Weak Command. Once it has waded just far enough, the kelpie will grab on to its helpless prey and squeeze the life out of it as it is drowning using Submission Lock. This squeeze causes creatures to drown twice as fast as normal. Kelpie can also use their hallucinations to affect many targets at once, but will often settle for drowning the weakest. If the kelpie is overwhelmed or outmatched, it will use its mighty kick to knock back its assailants and make a hasty retreat using its horse like land speed or dive into its home using its swim speed.Primary Spells

Effect: Your target’s willpower score drops by 1 for the duration of the spell unless your target can win an opposed willpower check to negate the effect. This spell cannot be cast on targets affected by Weak Command, Command, or True Command, and this spell’s duration ends if any of these spells are successfully cast on your target. This spell may only be successfully cast on a target two times.
Weak Command
Components: 8sil, target successful affected by 2 castings of Break WillCasting Type: Full Action

Duration: 1 hour
Saving Throw: Willpower vs Magic Potency
Effect: You may only attempt to cast this spell on a target that has been successfully affected by Break Will twice. If your target fails an opposed willpower check, they are forced to obey your commands. If forced to do something they otherwise would not do they may remake their willpower check to resist the command and do nothing that round. If the target is forced to attack someone they are close to, passing this check ends the spell’s duration.
Hallucinate

Range: 120ft
Duration: 10 minutes
Saving Throw: Willpower vs Magic Potency
Effect: This spell can inflict snared, frightened, or blurred vision to your target unless they can win an opposed willpower check to negate the effect. The target sees a hallucination that can cause the effect. If the target becomes aware that they are hallucinating they may remake the willpower check at the end of their turns to end the duration early.
Mass Hallucinate
Components: 10silCasting Type: Full Action
Range: 120ft
Area of Effect: 30ft radius circle
Duration: 10 minutes
Saving Throw: Willpower vs Magic Potency
Effect: This spell can be used to have one of three effects Snared, Frightened, or have blurred vision. If the target fails a willpower save vs your magic potency, they suffer from the status effect of your choice. The target sees a hallucination that can cause the effect. If the target becomes aware that they are hallucinating they may remake the save at the end of each of their turns. The spell ends on a successful save.
How to Fight a Kelpie
The best way to handle a kelpie is to not fight it at all. As our mothers told us, stay away from the river banks and lakes and you will never run into a kelpie again; however, this is not always an option.Kelpie are not difficult creatures to fight if you have them outnumbered. Stay around 20 to 30 ft apart so the kelpie cannot affect your entire hunting party with its Mass Hallucinate spell at once and strike it down as soon as it tries to flee or grapple you. Kelpie are protected by supernatural armor, but silver weapons cut through them like butter due to their thin hides.
If you are facing a team of kelpie, you must be very cautious. Fighting more than one kelpie at once is extremely dangerous for they can break down your willpower twice as fast and render you helpless before you can even draw your weapons. Close the distance quickly or stay out of their line of sight and you should be able to avoid having your mind broken. Kelpie are horrible combatants that can barely hold their own without the aide of their magic so even a decent Quest Lord initiate should be able to handle one in a physical confrontation.
