The Long Neck Snatcher
Bandersnatch are large bear-like predators that are the bane of all faithful servants of the Seelie Courts in the world of Alfhiem. They reluctantly serve the needs of Unseelie fairies as soldiers and messengers. Bandersnatch have also earned a reputation as some of the fastest creatures in Alfhiem coining the phrase, "you might as well try to catch a bandersnatch!", when someone is attempting to do something very difficult.Fighting Style
Even the stoutest of animals flee when they hear the bandersnatch are about. They typically travel in packs of 3 to 10 and are seldom found alone unless they are delivering a message for an Unseelie Fairy. Bandersnatches have very long telescoping necks that are able to extend and compress up to 15ft in an instant. The bandersnatch use this unorthodox hunting tool to their advantage. They will often do what they can to remain well out of their opponent's reach before lunging forth with their deadly bite. If they land a good bite, they will attempt to grapple their prey and pull them in to maul them to death with a series of armor crunching bites. If outnumbered, a bandersnatch is far more likely to run than to stand its ground. Bandersnatch boast an incredible land speed that few other creatures can match. They are also immensely agile for their fairly bulky size making them nearly impossible to catch.Primary Attacks
- Evasive Footwork: The creature may expend its swift action to move 15ft during its turn.
- Greater Grappling Bite: The creature may make intiate a grapple with any successful bite attack. In addition, the grapple attempt gains a +1 bonus to its fortitude roll.
- Grapple: The creature gains a +2 to all fortitude rolls involving a grapple.
- Lunge: Once per round, the creature may extend its reach by 5ft. (15ft total)
- Pounce: Once per round, the creature my leap 10ft before making an attack. This cannot be used with Lunge
How to Fight a Bandersnatch
Bandersnatch are strong creatures, but are also fairly cowardly. They will never engage in a fight they aren't sure they can win. Attacking a group of bandersnatch with confidence and overwhelming force may be enough to drive them away; however, be warned that these malicious creatures do hold grudges and will likely come back for you with increased numbers. While engaging with a bandersnatch, do whatever you can to close the distance between you, but do be careful not to allow yourself to be grappled by them without backup there. Like most fey, the bandersnatch have a small amount of supernatural armor that can be bypassed with silver weapons, but it is weak enough to be mostly ignored. Be sure to guard your ranged fighters, for bandersnatch will almost certainly focus their efforts on them and will be able to close the distance incredibly quickly with their great speed.Weapon Arts/Arcane Arts
