Greyhom (Venus)

Known as the last wilds of the solar system, the city of Greyhom known for mafias, cartels, and gangs who all go to Greyhom to lock horns for control of the solar system's supply of illicit goods and services. It's well know for keeping the station's temperature at about -5 degrees Celsius which causes it to snow grey snowflakes. The temperature was reduced originally to make the transport of the drug Renothel which needed to be cooled. Although it was originally a controversial decision, the population got used to it and thus was when the sale of Renothal declined no one ever bothered to turn the temperature back up and it became a point of city identity. When The Great Pulse hit, and the solar system markets collapsed, the former shadowy organizations suddenly found themselves with no reason to fight and in positions of management. Greyhom then united, was the city to propose The Venutian Free Cities Pact.

Demographics

The population is split between a number of gangs, largest is the Brakan gang with about 25% of the population. This is followed by Yatko gang with 22%, Zeti gang with 18% who comprise the big three. About 30% of the population are considered not associated with a gang. These are generally foreigners or professionals/officials who it is in their best interest to stay neutral.

Government

Under The Venutian Free Cities Pact, the government is an elected kritarchy as a city within the confederation of The Venutian Free Cities Pact. The high court of Greyhom is elected, by taking the nine highest voted candidates. This replaced the system of a puppet presidency that was generally considered to be one of the few collaborations criminal organizations as they needed someone to make sure the city didn't fall apart. However what doesn't change is the criminal organizations' overall control of the city. After the high court took power, the gangs owned most the property.
