Magic is an ability to change elements of reality outside the realm of normal possibility. In the modern sense, it's basically superpowers that make anything possible - if one knows how to use them. In the ancient and medieval sense, it's an attempt to harness some of the power which normally belongs to Gods alone.

Магия - это способность менять какие-либо элементы реальности вне того, что можно сделать при обычных обстоятельствах. В понимании современности - это сверхспособности, которые позволяют делать практически что угодно, если знать, как это делать. В понимании древнего мира и средневековья - это попытка обуздать толику той власти, что доступна лишь богам.

Fringe Earth magic is like water. In some places there's more of it, in others - less. It traverses the planet in the currents known as Ley Lines, with huge magical fields around them akin to river basins. Besides, Ancient Egyptians discovered that magic is close to precipitation, but in a reversed fashion. During the night it starts dissipating and floating up, but during the day it's like it is brought down with the sunlight. The magic can't be seen with the naked eye. At the points where Ley Lines cross, places with an unusually high concentrated magical fields appear. Such places are called Places of Power.

There are three types of magic: Innate, Invested and Acquired. Innate magic is extremely rare and is somehow linked to either genetics, special circumstances of birth, or special birthplaces. Those who wield this type of magic can cast innately and, in theory, possess unlimited power. Invested magic is the power gained from a powerful entity: a being, a place, a phenomenon, a sorcerer or a god. Acquired magic is the result of studying magic and its nature, which allows one to master spells.

Для тех, кто пользуется магией, она бывает Врождённой, Наделённой и Приобретённой. Врождённая магия очень редка, она проявляется в генетике существ, рождённых в особых местах или при особых обстоятельствах. Они от рождения способны колдовать, и обладают, теоретически, немыслимой силой. Наделённая магия - это сила, которая приходит от другого существа: могущественного существа, места, явления или колдуна, или бога. Приобретённая же магия - это результат годов изучения её природы, что позволяет овладать заклинаниями.
