The Frigid Riposte

To the west of Wrenfell is the island of Oshinumu, being an island covered in the glossy white and blue of snow and ice, the surrounding water have always been notorious for the danger of the ice which floats about, but starting in 2448 after the event known as the "Great Freeze", it became exponentially more diffcult to navigate, as the ice grew thicker and seemed to hunt ships that attempted to approach the island. The first ship to ever sail to Oshinumu after the Great Freeze and return was a bilander class ship called the "Tide Hopper" in 2451. Upon the return of the Tide Hopper there was great amazement, as many ships had attempted this journey, but all had failed.     The captain of the Tide Hopper, Robert H. Marzebrook, was well aware of this, he had been the Bosun on one such failed trip, during which he nearly died of hypothermia, and also lost the bottom two fingers from his right hand as well as a significant portion of the bottom of that hand, and the lobe and part of the Auricle and most the hearing in his right ear. It was in fact rumored that his previous failure was the fire beneath him that drove him to finally complete the journey.    Following the success of the Tide Hopper there were many attempts by other ships to do the same, but all others were met with failure, that is until the journey of Captain Henrieta Harper.  Captain Harpers voyage took place on a three mast schooner type craft called the "Glacial Whisperer", a brand new ship that had been purpous built with special systems to protect from the ice.  The crew was made up primarily of those who sailed along side Captain Marzebrook on his first successful journey.    The Glacial Whisperer set sail eight months after the Tide Hoppers return, and after a 117 days, the Glacial Whisperer returned, all crew alive, and carrying item produced by the natives of Oshinumu to prove their success.  Two months later Marzebrook set sail on the Tide Hopper with a whole new crew, and just 83 days later returned with their own goods from Oshinumu.   Five months later the Glacial Whisperer took to the sea again, Captain Harper at helm and the same crew as before, but after 213 days, there was no sighting of the ship, and to this day no sign of the ship or is crew have been seen.    Following the Glacial Whisperes failure, there were few attempts by any others to sail to Oshinumu.  But the tide hopper continued to make trips to and back  from Oshinumu more and more frequently, and after it's seventh successful journey under the command of captain Marzebrook, the ship was recognized as that which struck back at the ice around the island and was renamed to the "Frigid Riposte".    Today after the Frigid Repost remains the only ship trusted to make trips to Oshinumu, and its services come at a premium.  The owner ship and command of the Frigid riposte has been passed down from Captain Robert Marzebrook, to his son Captain Ferris "Skiff" Marzebrook.
