Session 25: The Search for Perran

General Summary

In the party's latest adventure, they found themselves in a bit of a strenuous position. Balor needed to find her friend Perran somewhere in the city, while Meepo and ifig wanted to gather whatever information they could ifig's map before they left Concorde entirely. Looming over each of these decisions, however, was the potential for Trystan's old acquaintance, Celaena Lanaster, to send people after them. The party was divided on what to do--whether to split up and take care of thing simultaneously, or to get help in leaving the city with one of their allies--but in the end, they stuck together and ventured first to the Museum of Nova.    Meepo was able to gain the assistance of Council Leader of Izod, Neacer Navroth, and the old dragonborn introduced them to Archivist Hemsworth, who seemed rather curious about ifig's locket. Archivist Hemsworth led the party through a secret entrance and to the five floors of books stacked beneath the museum. He pulled three pre-Shattering maps, but given that the party had only a limited time to study them, they would not be able to glean much information. There was also the matter of both too few dots on ifig's map and too many in the other locket. The party discovered that the dots on present day Larmes are considered unclear. Archivist Hemsworth said many scholars do not know what was there before the city was established.    Following this brief research endeavor, the party made their way to the Lover's Embrace, a brothel in the Western Quadrant. It seemed not only the perfect place to locate Perran, but also the place that Adaline would be able to track down Illustrious, the Council Leader of Mirage.    Upon their arrival, the party took part in some gambling and drinks, eventually seeking out their various targets. Balor, Meepo, Trystan, and ifig found Perran winning a high stakes games of dice and not taking precautions to keep from being discovered by Celaena's men.   Meanwhile, Adaline located Illustrious on the balcony above the gambling floor and shared a meaningful conversation with the other changeling woman who revealed that Mirage herself was a changeling. She said that if Adaline wanted to speak with Mirage, she could use the 'Dance of the Moon' to do so but that she would need to wait until midnight of the full moon and "listen for the music on the air".    On the gambling floor below, ifig found herself in a game of dice against Perran as Balor watched on, not ready to reveal herself. ifig came out victorious and won about 150 gold. Perran turned to leave as his crowd of onlookers sought more interesting games, and came face-to-face with Balor, becoming excited that his old friend had found him. However, their reunion was short-lived as an archer--one of Celaena's--appeared at the door of the establishment, locking eyes on the party.   Adaline caught sight of the party's sudden tension below and together, the party began to make a run for it towards an alley outside the brothel...where they were immediately ambushed by a number of elves. A fight ensued, nearly killing Trystan and Perran. Celaena appeared to send one last message to Trystan: that she would see him again soon. In the end, the party came out victorious, reviving their friends and taking a moment of reprieve before Balor and Perran had to make their leave from Concorde.   Revelations of Adaline's parents were revealed by Perran, explaining that they are spies for Queen Faebynn and the right hand men of Zinyra, a spymaster of the queen. But now, the party tends to their wounds, one member short as Balor seeks refuge with the Shadow Walkers, and they must decide where they should travel to next.   Only one thing is certain...they need to get out of Concorde.

Missions/Quests Completed

The party located Perran in the Lover's Embrace. After finding him, Perran and Balor left the city in search of allies from their guild, the Shadow Walkers.

Character(s) interacted with

Archivist Hemsworth (Curator of the Museum of Nova - Concorde) - Shorter than average elf, middle-aged and the deadpan curator of the Museum of Nova. He wears long robes and has long brown hair that is tied back. He assisted the party in locating maps from before the Shattering, though they did not provide much information in the short time the party had with them.   Illustrious (Council Leader of Mirage and owner of the Lover's Embrace - Concorde) - A Changeling woman with the preferred form of a Tiefling. She is a bit of a trickster and often goes through the city in other forms. She helped Adaline find a way that she might be able to speak with Mirage.    Perran Elwarin (Member of the Shadow Walkers and Balor's old friend) - Tall half-elf man with big ears and raven hair. He has a penchant for getting himself into trouble and he isn't very good at keeping a low profile. He was on the run from Celaena Lanaster, but thought to do so gambling in the Lover's Embrace where the party found him.   Neacer Navroth (Council Leader of Izod - Concorde) - Old dragonborn man with long white hair and a bit of a monotone voice. He appears to lead the Assembly meetings and assisted Meepo in gaining the help of Archivist Hemsworth.
