Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Celaena is a beautiful elven woman with flaming red, curly hair that she usually ties back into elaborate braids. Her features are delicate and sharp, giving her an exotic beauty that typically turns heads on the streets. She has finely pointed ears and tanned, caramel skin. Her vibrant green eyes seem to pop. She is tall, standing at nearly six feet and she tends to wear her Auxiliary armor, which is a tight black leather with the crest of the three noble houses on the front. She wears a brilliant gold circlet on her brow and her fingers each have a gold band. Her find, Auxiliary bow is usually strapped to her back along with her quiver, as is usual amongst the Shadow Auxiliary.

Personal history
At a young age, Celaena show great promise in the arcane, gaining the attention of several other noble houses. She became the subject of many marriage petitions, even when she was young as families wanted to unite their houses with the Lanasters for future politics.
She was a prodigy and her father, Lord Rydel Lanaster, paraded her throughout the Eladrin Kingdom for all to see. For Celaena, however, this was never what she wanted and she came to resent their outings. While her brother Ruven would eventually take over the duties of their father, it was expected the Celaena would accept one of the marriage proposals and be forgotten amongst the lesser nobility. But Celaena had more ambition than that and felt driven by her grandfather, King Cartoris Lanaster's legacy. She wanted to be a valued member of the Shadow Auxiliary.
Earning her place among the arcane archers had not been easy. Members of the three noble houses were not permitted to join the Shadow Auxiliary and she had to fight her way through the ranks and the antiquated laws. After years as the trophy daughter of her father and having to work ten times harder than anyone else to get what she wanted, Celaena became manipulating and coniving, finding a passion and talen for sniffing out secrets.
She did whatever she could to achieve her ambitions and goals, even at the cost of another person's suffering. She harbored a great resentment for her father and brother and for all those who gained a place amongst the Shadow Auxiliary as lesser nobility or half-blood.
She passed her final tests to be initiated into the Shadow Auxiliary and gained the respect of Queen Faebynn herself, earning Celaena a place within her inner circle. She uses her position as a way to maneuver power from her father and brother who despise the queen and her potential involvement with the murder of their grandfather.

Celaena is the first woman to be accepted amongst the ranks of the Shadow Auxiliary. She is also the only member of the three noble houses to have been allowed a position in their ranks. She had to challenge many laws in order to get to this point, though it gained the favor of the queen.

Motivation
Celaena wants power. She spent most of her childhood bowing down to her father and brother, and then eventually having to fight against the patriarchy of the noble houses and she never wants to be in a position of vulnerability again. In many ways, she also wants to get vengeance for what her father did to her as a child, nearly forcing her into a marriage before she was of marriagable age.

Celaena strives to meet her aspirations by whatever means possible and she will stop at nothing to fulfill her personal goals, even if that means harming those around her. She thinks only in terms of what will best benefit her.

The Eladrin Kingdom views the Champion Elayne as a sort of savior. It was Elayne who hid the Eladrin Elves in the Feywild during the events of the Shattering on the Material Plane, and it was Elayne who led them back once it was safe again. As a member of the Shadow Auxiliary, Celaena's life is supposed to be under Elayne's guidance. However, Celaena has grown bitter at the Champion whom she believes led the Eladrin past the Mortal Gate so that she could abandon the Eladrin people. Though Celaena holds these beliefs, she keeps much of her thoughts beneath the surface, though these sentiments grow each day among the Eladrin as war and in-fighting between the nobles looms.
Mannerisms
The skin around Celaena's fingernails in scabbed over and marred. She often picked at the skin there as a child as a nervous habit, and continued to do so into her adulthood.
