Ariella Sacre

Uniter Sacre

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Ariella is a hardened human woman with tanned skin, short brown hair, and an aggressive gaze. Her hair is cropped just above her shoulders and she has harsh bangs straight across her forehead. Her eyes are a deep brown that appear almost black at times, but this adds to her aggressive appearance. She is quite tall and muscular, though this is from years of hard training with Uniter Trin. She wears immaculate silver armor with the symbol of Aeon on the front and the crossed-arm symbol of the Uniters. She is never caught without her massive warhammer. Another symbol to Aeon hangs on a leather cord around her neck, though she usually tucks it beneath her clothes.

Personal history

Ariella Sacre came from humble beginnings in a small village outside Concorde. She worked her parent's farmland beside her seven other sisters, but it was easy for her to feel that she didn't belong. Ariella was the youngest and was easily forgotten. Some days she would escape into the fields and play in her own imagination, wielding a quarterstaff and pretending to slay demons or acting as a noble in one of Fragmentia's great capitals. Her family would sometimes forget her, and Ariella would be left to play by herself for hours. But when her sisters did notice that she'd escaped on her own, a beating was always waiting for her back home. Ariella's first sixteen years were spent in relative loneliness.   Then, one day, the village was attacked by Valley Raiders. As her sisters ran into the family barn, Ariella watched almost entranced as the raiders torched the fields and set homes ablaze, and as they approached her home, she mustered all the courage she could and ran into the barn to grab a pitchfork from the wall. Her sisters screamed for her as she ran back out to face the raiders.    There were fifteen of them barreling down on her, but Ariella stood her ground, letting fear leave her and courage take its place. If she was going to die, she would die standing.   Despite the odds, she was able to fend off several of the raiders, but they quickly overwhelmed her, taking the pitchfork and snatching her onto the back of one of their horses. Fear finally began to seep in through her mental barriers. She knew what the Valley Raiders did to their prisoners. She'd have been better off dead, and she knew from the terrified screams of her sisters that they were about to suffer the same fate.   But then, from the Champions' Road came a loud horn signal and the cacophony of shouting voices and pounding hooves. Uniters from Concorde tore through the fields and flooded the village, killing and pushing back the raiders until all that remained were the ashes of farms burned to the ground. Ariella's sisters clutched her as they were rescued from raiders' horses, but Ariella watched, mystified, as the Uniters saved the rest of the villagers and farmers. She had heard many stories about the Uniters and their bravery, and on that day, Ariella knew that she wanted to be one of them--to make a name for herself and to protect the innocent.   From that day on, Ariella began to train secretly in the barn. She stole wooden practice swords from the village blacksmith and took her father's hammer, learning the weight and balance of the weapons and practicing moves she'd read in books as a child. For months she put off working in the fields, and it did not go unnoticed. Her father learned of her disobedience from her sisters and Ariella was cast from the farm. If she wasn't willing to help the family, then she had no place under their roof.   But Ariella would not let her banishment deter her. This was a sign, the sign she'd been waiting for, and she set off to Concorde, though with no money or food, she quickly found herself struggling on the streets, fighting for food amongst the other urchins. Yet, it was these scuffles that hardened her and taught her how to truly hold her own, and though she lost many of them, she grew enough of a name for herself on those streets to garner the attention of a keen Uniter interested in taking in the lost and lonely. Uniter Trin took her in to her own home, clothed her, and taught her the way of Aeon and what it would mean to become one of Aeon's female warriors.    Though Ariella had never been particularly religious, she'd finally found a purpose and something to fight for. She fought hard, desperate to please her new mentor, and in only three years, she was accepted into Aeon's sector of the Uniters. For a while, this was enough.   Until it wasn't.   Her mentor, Uniter Trin died suddenly two years after Ariella's acceptance and she did not take her mentor's death well. Trin had been captain of Aeon's sector, and Ariella got it in her head that she had to reclaim Trin's title, for her honor. But Ariella faced strife from the other Uniters, and once again has begun to feel the emptiness of not belonging. She has found solace in her friendship with Bertrand from Domini's sector.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Ariella was one of the youngest Uniters ever accepted into one of the sectors. She has also had significantly less training than other Uniters, who typically spend much of their adolescence serving particular temples and apprenticing current Uniters.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Ariella wants to prove herself worthy of Aeon's favor, but also prove herself to the other Uniters of Aeon's sector by matching her actions against Aeon's teachings and the teachings of her mentor Trin. She wants to finally feel a sense of belonging in the world and make a name for herself, rather than being forgotten as she was amongst her seven sisters.

Virtues & Personality perks

Ariella will do anything to protect Aeon's temple, but also those she has formed a special connection with and can call friend.

Vices & Personality flaws

Once Ariella sets a goal, she becomes obsessed with it to the detriment of everything else in her life.

Social

Religious Views

Despite working as a Uniter in Concorde, a city dedicated to religious harmony in the pantheon, Ariella has never been particularly religious. Her aspirations toward matching up with Aeon's actions and goals have less to do with religious devotion and more to do with seeking glory and belonging. Ariella is tolerant of other faiths and respects the worship of other gods, even if that is not necessarily the front the other acolytes of Aeon give off.

Mannerisms

Although Ariella comes off as unapproachable and intimidating, she has a soft interior that shines in the quiet way she toys with her holy symbol. It is the one sign she gives of nervousness.
