The Free Confederacy

One of the first major victories of the revolution against the empire was establishment of the Free Confederacy. The Free Confederacy is a loose collection of city-states to the east of The Great Shear. Since the only means of crossing the gorge is a single bridge once the empire's troops retreated across the bridge the confederacy was formed. The confederacy remains in relative peace because of the trade agreements created when it was established. Each region depends upon others for support and although most can operate independently they can only flourish through mutual cooperation. Each of the region's major cities send representatives to The Confederate Council. The council controls all interstate interactions but each region is allowed to govern in whichever way it chooses.
