Yggdrasil, The World Tree
The Great World-Tree, Yggdrasil
Standing at the center of the Nine Realms it connects them all with branches, roots or trunk. It is a symbol of Life in and of itself.Roots
Yggdrasil has three structural roots, each with great meaning.Life
Connects to Muspellheim.Wisdom
Connects to Nilfheim.Destiny
Connects to Helheim.Bark and Trunk
One may attempt to scale the tree. Gravity follows its surface so one must not worry about falling, but rather other dangers.Great Bark Serpent
A great Golden serpent patrols the bark of the tree, preventing mortals from ascending its trunk. It is immense, at least as large as Jormungandr the World Serpent who swims the waters of Utgard. Do not attempt to face it without accepting that you may perish to its fangs and weight.Branches
The branches extend outward and upward on multiple spots on the tree, including extending to Jotunheim, the realm of the giants, and to Vanaheim, as well as Alfheim up above Asgard.Maps
