Asgard is the realm of the Aesir and where those slain in battle come in their afterlife. It is separated into two worlds called Folkvangr and Valhalla.
Folkvangr is the realm of the Aesir goddess Freya. Half of those slain in battle and some of who die in other means come here.
Valhalla is where the most valiant or honorable half slain in battle come to rest. They spend their days battling and feasting and hunting. Life is safer in Valhalla than Folkvangr.

Modern Norway, Sweden and Denmark were the birth places of most vikings. They raided and interacted with any country they could travel to including Scotland, Endland, Wales, Ireland, Frisia (france), Normandy(france), Germany and beyond.
