Chapter Guardians

The Chapter Guardians is the title given to the chapter's blade guard veterans. The Guardians protect the chapter's Fortress Monastery, but are sometimes deployed to warzones where the chapter expects to need to set up a command post or center, so they can protect not only the officer in charge for the chapter, but the other Imperial leadership present.     
     The Chapter Guardians are used in a balance with the Chapter's Sanguinary Guard, who are among the first into a battlefield. When a command post under their protection comes under attack they become an ever encroaching shield wall, firing their heavy bolt pistols until they are able to come to grips with their enemy in close combat.
