Plastic Tubes

The tubes are a traditional piece of jewelery worn the Settlers. They are commonly worn on formal occasions, especially on the Anniversary of the Landing. The tubes are purely decorational, and serve no obvious purpose.   The tubes are a hoop of colourful plastic, that are worn over the shoulder. The tubes attach to a name tag in the front, and loop around the hand on the back. Popularly the tubes are made out of colourful plastic, sometimes see-through or metal coloured. The name tag includes the name and titles of the Settler, and is fastened to the jacked with a pin. The tubes are usually removable, and different tubes can be attached on different times.

History

The tubes were a very important part of the early Settler fashion, as can be seen from the fact, that they were worn by the ancestors in almost all of the surviving depictions. They used to be the main decorative piece on the otherwise very functional ancestor outfit.     They have since fallen out of use as an everyday piece of clothing, but they are a very important part of the formal dress. The tubes are worn proudly to honour their great importance to the ancestors.

Raw materials & Components

The traditional version is made out of colourful plastic tube specifically produced for the item. Alternatively a variety of other materials can also be used, such as colourful fabric or rope. These alternatives are preferred by the common people, and are better suited for the more relaxed parties, but inappropriate for a formal occasion.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The tubes are usually purely decorative, but some clever uses have been invented, such as using them as a drinking straw.
