Felwarren Dungeon

Purpose / Function

Originally, Felwarren was a mining town. Its mines, however, had more than their fair share of monster problems, thanks to being dug actually quite close to a large cave network that connected with Biworr on the other side of the Biworr Peaks, as well as connecting with The Deeps in the lower reaches of the caves. Warriors or adventurers had to excavate the mines on occasion to keep them safe.   Gradually, the demand for iron and other metals in the region subsided, and the mine was used as a mine less and less. Felwarren was in danger of becoming a dried-up ghost town like many other villages in the Smigrin Mining District. Seeing this, an enterprising woman named Shirlin decided to try a desperate business: founding a tavern/inn in Felwarren that would cater specifically to adventurers willing to explore the dungeon.   Shirlin was lucky; her idea was spread by a traveling bard, and soon a wealthy patron named Tolfos arrived in Felwarren with the intent to start a store there, specializing in selling adventuring goods. Tolfos gave Shirlin a jump start of cash to help her make the Caped Crawler a nice place for adventurers to stay, without being too expensive for those adventurers to afford. The business seems to have been successful; Felwarren has gained a reputation as a place where aspiring adventurers can go to test their mettle, and Shirlin and Tolfos have thriving businesses catering to such tourists.
