Valorant
History
Originally formed in response to the rise in power of the orcish and human empires of the late 200s, the Valorant were originally an elite protective force meant to guard the vast wealth of the Shapers' Guild vaults and protect the Lozzelforge. Many of their original number founded a splinter faction of the Shapers, known as Forgecarvers, and though they have continued to be associated with the Shapers', their number has historically always been drawn from among Forgecarvers. Over time, they became known as fearsome protectorates, outfitted with the best of the Lozzelforged equipment, dispatched to guard key territories in the dwarven kingdom.
The Valorant, though small in number, withstood a multitude of threats over 2000 cycles but they were not able to withstand the onslaught of the Profane. During the Collapse, key Valorant officers were revealed to be agents working for the Profane. They betrayed the Dwarven Kingdom and attacked from within, cementing the downfall of the old regime and irrevokably tarnishing the Valorant's reputation. As a final act of betrayal, the remaining Valorant destroyed milennia's worth of Lozzelforge templates and sabotaged nearly all of the Lozzelforges themselves. Only a small band of brave resistance fighters were able to spare the scant few forges that remain to this day.
