Sky Whales

Large stone covered behemoths swim through the sky. These flying mammals are known by common folk as sky whales. Majestic as they are they have been known to ram into airships. This can cause smaller ships to wreak and larger ships to become severely damaged or crippled. Sky whales are hunted for the minerals and trees they gather on their backs as they mature. The sky whale uses an unknown substance to coat itself in stone that they gather from mountains. As well as holding valuable resources the whales are hunted for their air sacs that keep them aloft. Most air ships use the gas that fills these sacs. When young are born they are taught to cover themselves in mud and lighter materials for protection. It is well known that sky whales feed upon Io pods which house the same gas they use to stay aloft. Tends to be between fifteen feet to fifty feet long.
