Cyclonic Maelstrom

Cyclonic maelstroms are a form of maelstrom that are created naturally in Kokaarak and other chaotic petals. They are incredibly dangerous, and often rule over all maelstroms. Nothing in their land rules above the cyclonic maelstroms. They are incredibly large, the size of a small tornado.
Cyclonic maelstroms try to stay away from every petal that is not their native land. If they enter those petals, they go on a chaotic spree of murder, angry and trying to get back.
Cyclonic maelstroms have a set life cycle, every single one dying at 40. The maelstroms grow up to 20 feet. Once they reach this height, they go through a process called the death period. Maelstroms leave their packs and tribes, venture to empty canyons, and explode. This explosion, if next to something, can cause immense damage.

Cyclonic maelstroms have no visible physical areas except for their gemstone cores. Everything surrounding this gemstone is a wide spiral of fire.

Cyclonic maelstroms go through a sort of mitosis-like reproduction. Once they grow large enough, their gemstone seems to disappear, and reappear with two, which scientists believe to be the magic in the maelstrom reproducing a lifestone, or the gem that powers the maelstrom. This lifestone seperates from the maelstrom and forms a new maelstrom.
