During a battle against the Riverlands confederations, Accipiter takes an injury. Their partners object.

Lyra and Accipiter fought side by side, them with their short swords, and her with her storm. To conserve her strength, she was fighting by direct, individual strikes. Lyra was duelling with three opponents when she heard a pained screech behind her. She sent a gust of wind at her opponents, and whirled around. Irhaal wheeled Skytalon over the battlefield, leading a wing of Thunderbird warriors when he heard Lyra scream in fury. A hurricane of power exploded onto the battlefield. Looking down through the whirling ice and debris, he saw his partners at the eye of the storm, Accipiter crumpled on the ground, and Lyra floating over them with raw power leaking from her eyes and hands. A Riverlander ballista bolt sought to strike her down, only to disintegrate yards short of its target. A spear of ice shot out of the storm, shattering ballistae and crew alike.
