Samlad War Cart

The Samlad war cart is a heavily armored, completely enclosed cart used to move archers. It is constructed of heavy wood covered in iron plate, with thin slots along the sides for the archers to loose arrows through. They are pulled by a single dragon, and are useful for quickly getting ranged units into areas otherwise inaccessible due to heavy fire or other dangers of the battlefield.
These carts vary in size and exact deign, but on average are able to hold ten archers comfortably. Smaller carts are less efficient as far as their use of resources, while increasing the size of a cart makes it increasingly difficult to maneuver effectively. Large carts are at an increased risk of becoming mired in soft ground or tipping over, leaving them extremely vunerable until they can be righted by dragons diverted from the battle.
Samlad war carts are generally used mostly near the beginning of battles, and are usually pulled back behind the army once the infinity take over. They are not nearly as effective for skirmishing as mounted archers, but are still much more manuverable than archer units on foot and are especially useful in armies with a limited number of dragons.

Propulsion

Pulled by a single dragon. The harness consists of a single collar attached to the iron shafts, allowing the dragon to quickly slip in and out of the harness as necessary.

Weapons & Armament

Typically carries 10 archers equipped with longbows. These archers loose arrows out throught the slits in the sides of the cart. The dragon pulling the cart can provided some defense, but Samlad war carts are typically escorted by 2-4 additional dragons to ward off attackers.

Armor and defense

Fully clad in iron plate averaging approximately 1/4" thick, up to approximately 1/2" thick in heavily hot areas. Often have strategically placed metal spikes to dissuade climbers.
