Edelraed

Edelraed was a Veiltic scholar best know for his fascination with Elven Dragons, about which he wrote a number of influential books, which in turn brought a much greater understanding of the Elven Dragons to the wider world and particularly to the Dwarves. Edelraed was somewhat unusual for a Dwarf in his great interest in understanding how the world's cultures functioned and fit together, and his willingness to go out and study other peoples first hand. At the time most Dwarvish cultures were quite insular and isolationist, being for the most part content to worry about their own people's problems.

Like many scholars in this world, Edelraed is most often seen in loose-fitting robes. He prefers mostly neutral colors such as dull golds, umbers, and warm grays. When traveling, he is likely to don comfortable pants with lots of pockets, a sturdy tunic, and a traveling hood, as well as a jacket or coat if appropriate for the weather.

Edelraed wrote several influential books on the culture, behavior, and biology of the Elven Dragons and other subspecies of Iden's Dragon, targeted towards a Dwarvish audience, though these books were also quite popular among other peoples.
He dabbled in economic theory. Though he had no formal training in the subject, Edelraed wrote a number of essays comparing the economies of various countries, focusing particularly on behavioral economics and the relationship between culture and monetary policy.
He also wrote a number of unpublished essays on various philosophical topics such as the definition of consciousness, what differentiates people from animals, and the nature of evil.
