Glot of the Dark Moon

Among the northern tribes of orcs no festival or celebration is as important as the Glot of the Dark Moon. A celebration and ritual revolving around the new moon, it is believed by those orcs that practice the tradition that without the Glot the moon will never return.

Execution

The Glot is largely free form, save for the ritual preformed at the end of the celebration itself. As the dark moon rises the mooncaller draws all those in the tribe to the center of the community. Once they have been gathered he administers a special brew to each of them that allows them to channel the energy needed to energize the moon. When the brew has been imbibed the mooncaller's assistants lead the tribe in prayer as the mooncaller preforms a personal ritual to call the spirits down to receive the commhnities energy.

Participants

The Glot of the Dark Moon is mainly observed by orcs living among the northern tribes. Some orcs that transition to life amidst the more developed races still hold strong to the belief and practice smaller versions of the Glot on their own or with close friends and family.  Among the tribes, the most important role within the precession of the Glot is the Mooncaller—a shaman dedicated to the spirits of the moon—who leads the people in the rituals and celebration of the Glot.

Observance

The Glot of the Dark Moon occurs whenever the moon is a new moon. It is believed that the collective energy given by the orcs celebrating the Glot of the Dark Moon energize the moon spirits enough to begin filling once more, only to reach a full moon and begin losing energy once more.
