The Legion under the Stars

The Legion under the Stars is the official military arm of the Meridian of Stars' Eternal and even predates the existence of the Meridian itself. It's original function was akin to a coalition army, consititing of a myriad of races and factions, it's purpose: to conquer and establish a new world order under Astralshaper.
In the present day, the Legion has been repurposed to a defensive force. The Regent Vicarvoyancy Assembly is, in theory, in complete command of the Legion, and many appointed officers are Vicarvoyancy clerics. However, in practice, the Legion is commanded mostly by local regional organizations throughout the Meridian. In Eternal Venerates, this is the Vicarvoyancy, but in other Venerates, this operation is usually managed by the dominant House.
The Legion is largely a conscripted order, with mandatory military service in some Venerates, but it does take willing volunteers as well. Because of the decentralization of the modern Legion, some pockets of the order might more closely resemble personal armies of the dominant Houses and the discipline and unity of the Legion can vary widely, especially in places far from the reach of the Vicarvoyancy and the Astropolis.
During Evening, much expectation is burdened upon the Legion to protect the general population to the best of its ability.
