Baron of the Ridge
Baron of the Ridge
Before it was called Baron Ridge, it was a village terrorized by bandits. The settlement barely clung to life beside a massive cliff, their only access to the river was a treacherously steep path. It took the vision of one man to turn this location into a port capable of bringing the comforts of civilization into the mountains.
He hired surveyors to map out his idea, then he presented it to his team of investors. One man would build and operate the docks and cranes. Another would mine out the mountainside. Someone would bring in carpenters and laborers to build better homes and market stalls. Infrastructure, streets, zoning... All was taken care of.
All was taken care of except for the local bandits. This man earned the name Baron of the Ridge when his team of armored mercenaries swept through the area without mercy. Able-bodied men were rounded up whether they were bandits or not and were held in the Baron's newly constructed fort. For years, until the town construction was completed, these men were held prisoner so that no trouble would come during the radical changes the town was experiencing.
Responsible for turning a hive of scum and villainy into THE hub of commerce throughout the upper ranges of Sisafir's mountains. He may have accomplished the task with brutality, but the settlement bears his name so....
