Genetics and Reproduction

Elves generally have a long pregnancy period of approximately 5 years. Generally twins, triplets or quadruplets are born. The pregnancy and delivery particularly burdens the mother. Siblings not born in a litter are usually far apart in age. Single births children might be lonely, however as children of elves are few and far between they are usually treasured and doted on by adults and rarely are they neglected.

Growth Rate & Stages

Ages 0- 50 are considered the infancy and childhood period. Any child after the age of 50 who shows sufficient maturity goes from being a young adult to being recognised as a fully functioning adult of society, though they may still be considered children up till their 5th century. Elves may live up to 10,000 years and only start to decline once their mind or soul are no longer strong and / or functioning properly.

History

Most Elves live naturally long lives, unless killed. They age very slowly and compared to the other species in the region, they seem to live forever. Thus, most of them are slow to accept change, unless they feel threatened or a great need appears. Both Male and Female Elves are slender, have youthful and androgynous appearances. This causes many other species who first meet them to be uncertain as to their gender.
