Personal history
Born on Staten Island into a family of six, he was the youngest and a real rascal. He was not very street smart but very book smart, he did pretty good in school while his siblings lacked and dropped out to start working. About midway through his junior year though he got a job at a diner as a soda jockey and really enjoyed that job. Then he became a line cook and found his love for working in the kitchen. He graduated high school and stayed working as a cook in that diner for six or seven years before saving up enough money to start up his own restaurant, but he didn't want to start one up in Staten. There were already plenty of places to eat there, so he went on a trip to visit some of his cousins down in Virginia. There he found Asheville and how it really lacked any places to eat that were commercialized or catered to travelers along the highway. So he went out on a limb and opened up his pizzeria there.
It was now that he met his soon to be wife Jenny. She was just a young lady with a love for making people happy, looking for something to pay the bills. Marco and Jenny clicked immediately and the two of them became a strong couple, overcoming many obstacles that were thrown in their path. And when Jenny found out she was pregnant, their life only seemed to get even more joyous. Their baby girl. Marco was particularly excited, he even built a nursery on their house by hand to make it perfect for their child. They were both so happy when Jillian was born, it brought him to tears seeing his sweet little girl sleeping in the arms of his wife. Everything was just so right, but... there were complications. The bleeding would not stop, the doctors said something about postpartum bleeding, but the specifics didn't matter to Marco. His wife was dying and he couldn't stop it. He stayed by her side, as she spent her last days in the company of her husband and her little girl. She made his promise to raise their girl up right, a promise he has held in his heart ever since that day.
Being a single father has been tough, but he has held strong for Jenny and Jillian's sake. Unfortunately, though he has turned to the drink to cope with his stresses but he's not become an abusive man, just sad. It was also in the years he was raising a young Jillian he became interested in crime dramas and mysteries. Watching documentaries and detective movies with Jillian became a bonding exercise between them which is likely where his daughter gets her inquisitive nature. Currently, in his life, he is focused on running the pizzeria and working on his novel writing.

Falling for a scam when he was young and investing money meant for his grandpa's medication only to have it stolen. He worked five back to back shifts to earn back that money and buy the medicine, but his grandpa died about a week later. The doctors say it was unrelated but Marco still believes it was his own fault.
