Gallant Order

This is the remnants of the ancient order dedicated to the Purge. For many centuries they have fallen into disorder and have all but faded from memory. Recent events of Aossi have stoked the embers of the old hatred. The Order has begun to be revitalized from powerful patrons among the City-States and they have begun to recruit those humans who have suffered at the hands of cruel Aossi.

Structure

The new order is still being revitalized, but they are using much of the old structure. They are effectively knights who hunt down the supernatural. As such, they are military-minded, but versed in Aossi lore. New recruits are called squires and require training under a knight before they can go into the field. The highest ranking members are called the Seven who are the most esteemed cavaliers of the order. Each of the Seven heads up a branch of the order with a specific purpose. For example, Knights of the Quill are the keepers of lore who are always researching new ways to kill Aossi (the Anathema of Aossi is an area of particular interest).

Assets

The order has many ancient holdings, hidden places of knowledge, and a rich (secret) history. In recent times, there are several powerful patrons who have begun to support the Gallant Order financially and politically. These are usually wealthy merchants or aristocracy of the City-States. They have also captured more than a few talismans of the Fey.

History

The Gallant Order was once a most prestigious organization. During ancient times they lead the Purge that sought the complete destruction of the Aossi. At one time, the majority of mankind united was beneath their banner in the real and dire threat of the Aossi of that age. They were though to have achieved victory at the famous Battle of Rivenmoor, but in reality the Aossi changed tactics and went into hiding.

It is we who keep the shadows at bay.
